Ethniki Asfalistiki has been a leading company in the Greek insurance market for 135 years. Since its establishment in 1891, the company has been offering simple, innovative, and reliable solutions that protect what matters most to its policyholders, enabling them to face each day with confidence and peace of mind. In November 2025, Ethniki Asfalistiki entered a significant new chapter in its history by becoming part of the Piraeus Group, one of the largest and most dynamic financial organizations in Greece. Today, Ethniki Asfalistiki employs more than 700 people, has a flexible and extensive network of Certified Insurance Intermediaries, and is trusted and preferred by 1.9 million policyholders. Guided by values such as integrity and reliability, the company places people at the heart of its business, making insurance clear and accessible and removing complexity to help customers feel informed and in control.
Ethniki Asfalistiki’s vision is to remain a leading insurer, always standing by its customers, redefining insurance through innovation, empathy, and simplicity, while building a sustainable future.
Role Overview
Ethniki Asfalistiki is looking for a Director, Technology Delivery & Portfolio, to establish and lead a new directorate that owns all non-BAU technology change — from demand intake and prioritisation through solution design, project delivery and quality assurance — and, exclusively, the company's key business platforms (Salesforce, ServiceNow and SAP, including the new P&C core platform). Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director will turn an ambitious transformation portfolio — including a new SAP-based P&C core platform, bancassurance integration within the Piraeus Group, digital customer and intermediary platforms, and data & AI initiatives — into predictable, on-time, on-budget delivery.
The role will also introduce an AI-assisted software delivery lifecycle, bringing business analysis and solution design together as one modern practice.
Main Responsibilities
The company invests in long-term cooperation and provides a modern and stable work environment, with a hybrid work model. We offer a competitive remuneration package and excellent career prospects, coupled with continuous training and development.
Applications
All applications will be treated with strict confidentiality and successful candidates will be contacted.
At Ethniki Asfalistiki, we believe in creating an inclusive workplace that values diversity and celebrates the unique contributions of each individual.
We are an equal opportunity employer, and we recognize that a diverse workforce is essential for our success. By bringing together people from different backgrounds and experiences, we can promote a more innovative, creative, and productive work environment.
We are committed to fostering a culture of belonging where everyone feels respected, valued, and empowered to contribute their best.

The role will also introduce an AI-assisted software delivery lifecycle, bringing business analysis and solution design together as one modern practice.
Main Responsibilities
- Build and lead the Change Delivery directorate — IT Program Delivery & Demand, Solution Architecture, Platforms, QA Operations and dedicated build squads — defining its structure, processes, KPIs and ways of working.
- Establish a single front door for all non-BAU demand — intake, triage, diligence and prioritisation — and run the IT Portfolio Board, chaired by the CTO, together with business sponsors, IT Operations & Run and the Strategy & Transformation function, including the quarterly change-capacity quotas for the application teams.
- Own the key business platforms end to end, moving them towards a product-based model — Salesforce, ServiceNow and SAP (central applications and, from go-live, the new P&C core platform): platform roadmap, configuration and releases, vendor and licence management, and the platform-owner team.
- Stand up dedicated build squads for major programmes — starting with the SAP-based P&C core platform — staffed through new hires, implementation partners and time-boxed secondments from the application teams, and hand them over into service at go-live.
- Own delivery of the technology transformation roadmap — scope, schedule, budget, quality and benefits — with transparent status, risk and dependency reporting to the CTO and the Executive Committee.
- Lead solution architecture: combine business requirements (BRD) and solution design into one practice, drive the Architecture Review Board and apply enterprise-architecture standards to every non-BAU design.
- Introduce and govern an AI-assisted SDLC across analysis, design, development and testing, including policies for the secure and compliant use of AI models, intellectual property and licensing.
- Set up QA Operations — service validation and testing through managed-service partners — and own release planning, submitting releases to the Change Advisory Board chaired by IT Operations & Run.
- Ensure every project transitions cleanly into service through operational-readiness criteria, documentation and delivery KPIs shared with IT Operations & Run.
- Define and mature the project and portfolio management methodology (predictive, agile and hybrid), stage gates and benefits-realisation tracking.
- Own the change budget (CAPEX and non-recurring OPEX) and the delivery contracts: support solution and supplier selection, shape statements of work and hold implementation partners to their commitments.
- Embed regulatory requirements (DORA, GDPR, EU AI Act) and security-by-design into delivery governance, in cooperation with the CISO and IT Governance, Risk & Compliance.
- Lead organisational change management with business units to secure adoption and value, and develop a high-performing team of demand managers, project managers and solution architects.
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; a postgraduate degree (MSc) in IT or a related field is an advantage.
- At least 15 years of experience in technology delivery, including 5+ years leading portfolio, programme or delivery organisations, ideally in insurance or banking.
- Proven track record delivering large, multi-vendor transformation programmes — core-system replacement (SAP-based preferred), integration and digital platforms.
- Strong command of demand, portfolio and project governance (PMO, portfolio boards, benefits realisation); PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or SAFe certification is an advantage.
- Solid grounding in enterprise and solution architecture, with the ability to challenge vendor designs; working knowledge of TOGAF or a certification is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted software engineering and modern delivery practices (DevOps, automated testing, CI/CD), or a strong drive to introduce them.
- Experience owning business platforms as products (Salesforce, ServiceNow, SAP or similar): roadmap, releases, vendor and licence management.
- Experience delivering in a regulated environment and working with audit, risk and compliance functions.
- Commercial acumen in vendor management, contract models and budget control.
- Excellent stakeholder management at executive level, with the credibility to prioritise, challenge and say no when needed.
- Structured, results-oriented leadership style, with the ability to build a new function and lead through change.
- Excellent command of Greek and English (both written and spoken).
