Supervising Engineer – Mining & Industrial Operations

Introduction

This is a senior, site-based engineering and safety oversight role requiring someone who is professionally eligible to operate as a Supervising Engineer in Greece, understands the Greek mining regulatory environment, and has strong practical mining/heavy-industry experience

Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience as a Supervising Engineer or Safety Technician in Greece, as well as experience in mining operations, mineral processing, industrial hygiene, contractor management, emergency management, tailings management, and ISO-based safety systems.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Supervising Engineer to provide hands-on engineering, safety, and operational oversight across mining, quarrying, mineral-processing, milling, and related heavy industrial operations in Greece.

The successful candidate will maintain a strong field presence, ensuring that operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Greek mining legislation, K.M.L.E. requirements, approved technical studies, environmental conditions, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and inspect mining, processing, and industrial operations.
• Provide technical guidance to operational teams and address engineering or safety deficiencies.
• Conduct field inspections, risk assessments, audits, and critical-control verifications.
• Exercise stop-work authority where serious or uncontrolled safety risks exist.
• Oversee critical risks including energy isolation, lifting, working at heights, mobile equipment, blasting, electrical safety, ground stability, hazardous substances, and tailings.
• Support occupational health and industrial hygiene monitoring.
• Participate in incident and near-miss investigations and corrective-action management.
• Support emergency preparedness and response exercises.
• Monitor contractor compliance and high-risk contractor activities.
• Maintain statutory records, compliance documentation, risk assessments, procedures, and reports.
• Support management systems aligned with ISO 45001 and, where applicable, ISO 39001.
• Provide visible safety leadership and coach supervisors and operational employees.
• Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have:

• A recognised Mining Engineering, Mining & Metallurgical Engineering, Mineral Resources Engineering, or other suitably recognised engineering qualification.
• Appropriate professional rights to perform the required engineering duties in Greece.
• Registration with the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE).
• Eligibility for formal appointment as a Supervising Engineer under the K.M.L.E.
• Relevant experience in mining, quarrying, mineral processing, milling, or comparable heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of Greek mining and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Experience in risk assessments, critical-control verification, and incident investigations.
• Working knowledge of ISO 45001.
• Excellent Greek and English communication skills.
• Strong reporting, analytical, and Microsoft Office skills.
• A valid driver's licence.
