Senior Java Cloud Engineer (m/f/d)

PentaSoft Consulting M.A.E. is looking for a Senior Java Cloud Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and operation of cloud-native enterprise applications using modern Java technologies and cloud platforms.

You will work on challenging projects for international clients, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure and maintainable software solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot


• Design and implement microservice-based architectures following best practices in software design


• Build, deploy, and operate applications on Kubernetes


• Define and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cloud environments


• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines


• Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and support junior developers


• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, system reliability, and cloud cost efficiency

Your Profile

• 5+ years of professional experience in Java and Spring Boot, building production-grade applications


• A degree in Computer Science or a related field


• Solid hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration


• Practical experience with AWS cloud services


• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, ArgoCD)


• Experience with Docker and Helm for containerization and deployment


• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins and GitHub (Actions/workflows)


• Solid working knowledge of Git and Maven


• Strong understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and clean code practices


• Experience designing and consuming Webservices (REST/SOAP)


• Solid knowledge of SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB)


• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems design


• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken

Other desirable qualifications and experience:

• Experience with Istio


• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Grafana


• Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence


• Knowledge of message brokers/event streaming (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ)


• Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified, CKA/CKAD) are a plus


• Knowledge of German
