The opportunity

The Quality Assurance & Fresh Produce QC Manager will lead quality assurance and food safety execution across stores and distribution centres (DCs), while ensuring best-in-class fresh produce quality control across the end-to-end supply chain. This role supervises teams of QC specialists for fresh categories (fruits and vegetables, meat, fish) and manages internal/external audit resources to maintain compliance, reduce waste, and protect customer trust.

What you will focus on

  • Lead and develop the Stores/DC QA and Fresh QC organisation: set objectives, allocate workload, coach teams, and standardise inspection and reporting methods
  • Own store and DC quality, food safety and legal compliance programmes: internal audits, site inspections, hygiene verification, and corrective action management
  • Plan and manage audit readiness for competent authority inspections and third-party certification audits (e.g., ISO certification), ensuring timely closure of findings
  • Define and continuously improve fresh quality specifications (F&V, meat, fish) and acceptance criteria; ensure alignment with buying specs and supplier capabilities
  • Implement end-to-end freshness monitoring across the supply chain: inbound checks, DC handling/storage standards, store execution, and DSD/local producer assessments
  • Oversee supplier certification requirements for fresh categories (e.g., food safety standards, local producer assessments) and support investigations of quality/food safety issues
  • Drive reduction of fresh waste and claims through root-cause analysis, and operational improvements with Logistics, Merchandising and Suppliers
  • Design and deliver quality/food safety training for store and DC teams (with HR/Training and Operations), including onboarding and refresher programmes
  • Maintain effective governance and reporting: KPIs (e.g., audit scores, non-conformities, waste/shrink drivers, freshness conformance), trend analysis and action tracking
  • Act as escalation point for major quality/food safety incidents in stores/DC; coordinate investigations, containment actions, communications, and lessons learned

Who we are looking for

  • Degree in Food Science Technology, Chemistry or relevant. Alternatively, a Bachelor followed by a Food Technology Master Degree
  • A minimum of five years' experience in Quality Management within Food industry or consulting firm
  • Demonstrated skills in quality management systems (e.g. ISO 22000, ISO 9001, BRC, IFS, HACCP System ELOT 1416)
  • Fluency in English language, both oral and written
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office

The value you bring

  • Stakeholder Management and Collaboration | Constructively challenge and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Results Orientation | Be on top of tasks and bring high end, customer-driven results
  • Leading Others | Empower and develop others - reinforce and influence
  • Critical & Analytical Thinking | Effectively analyze all related information to quickly conclude on sustainable solutions
