Position Overview

The Group is seeking a highly analytical and commercially driven Senior Technical Business Development Expert to support the organisation’s long-term growth strategy across Land, Sea, Air, Cyber, and Space domains.


This role serves as the strategic bridge between emerging defence technologies, market intelligence, and business expansion opportunities. The successful candidate will identify disruptive technology trends, assess strategic partnerships and acquisition opportunities, evaluate competitive positioning, and translate technical innovation into actionable growth initiatives.


The ideal candidate combines a strong Engineering or Technical background with hands-on experience in Business Development, Strategic Marketing, Technical Sales, Corporate Strategy, or Defence Technology Intelligence. The role requires the ability to understand complex systems and emerging technologies, while engaging effectively with executive leadership, engineering teams, international customers, and strategic partners.



Key Responsibilities


Strategic Growth & Market Intelligence

  • Monitor and assess global defence and aerospace market trends, procurement priorities, geopolitical developments, and emerging operational doctrines.
  • Identify high-potential growth opportunities, including new markets, strategic partnerships, technology alliances, acquisitions, and joint ventures.
  • Conduct continuous market and competitive intelligence activities across the defence ecosystem.
  • Track disruptive technologies and evolving operational requirements affecting modern warfare and digital battlefield transformation.


Technical & Strategic Evaluation

  • Perform high-level technical due diligence on emerging technologies, products, and integrated systems.
  • Evaluate R&D pipelines, product maturity, scalability, interoperability, and technology readiness levels (TRLs).
  • Assess strategic fit of potential partners, suppliers, and acquisition targets within the Group’s portfolio.
  • Translate complex technical capabilities into business value propositions and market positioning strategies.


Business Development & Opportunity Identification

  • Support the identification and qualification of international defence opportunities, procurement programs, grants, and funded initiatives.
  • Contribute to strategic capture planning and technical discovery activities for high-value pursuits.
  • Assist leadership in developing investment theses, market entry strategies, and growth roadmaps.
  • Support relationship-building with defence agencies, system integrators, OEMs, and technology innovators.


Competitive & Technology Intelligence

Conduct technical and commercial benchmarking of competitor solutions in areas such as:

  • Tactical Communications & C2
  • ISR & Optronics
  • Electronic Warfare
  • Autonomous Systems & AI
  • Cybersecurity
  • Space-based Solutions
  • Smart Soldier Systems
  • Produce strategic reports, technology watch assessments, and executive briefings.


Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the Group at international defence exhibitions, technology forums, conferences, and industry working groups.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with technology providers, startups, research institutions, and strategic customers.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product Management, Business Development, and Executive Leadership teams.


Strategic Planning & Portfolio Development

  • Contribute to the Group’s long-term technology and business growth roadmap.
  • Support strategic planning initiatives related to future capabilities and emerging operational domains.
  • Align technology scouting and market intelligence activities with corporate priorities and investment strategies.


Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, ICT or related technical disciplines.
  • MBA or additional qualifications in Business, Strategy, Finance, or Corporate Development are considered a strong advantage.


Professional Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Business Development
  • Strategic Marketing
  • Technical Sales
  • Product Management
  • Defence Technology Strategy
  • Market Intelligence
  • Corporate Development
  • Prior experience within Defence, Aerospace, Security, Space, or High-Technology sectors is highly preferred.


Technical Expertise

Strong understanding of several of the following areas:

  • Familiarity with international defence procurement ecosystems and standards.
  • Understanding of NATO, EDA, DARPA, MOD, or equivalent defence frameworks is advantageous.
  • Exposure to M&A processes, strategic partnerships, or technology evaluations is considered a plus.
