Project Coordinator – Medical Evacuation

POSITION OBJECTIVES

The Medical Evacuation Project aims to provide critically needed healthcare to patients from Gaza by facilitating their access to treatment in medical facilities in Europe and other third countries. The role is responsible for coordinating the effective implementation of the MSF Greece Medical Evacuation project, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to provide appropriate medical care to the identified patients, support their reception and improve their living conditions. This includes supporting project-level advocacy and negotiations with government authorities to strengthen coordination among key stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and public and private health actors.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Strengthen reception mechanisms, assess alternative accommodation options for children and adults from Gaza.
• Collaborate closely with other NGOs and partners to strengthen coordination and referral pathways.
• Coordinate comprehensive patient support services, including transportation to and from medical structures, referrals and pharmacy services.
• Facilitate access to medical services, including public hospitals and private medical practices.
• Upon request, liaise government authorities to streamline coordination among stakeholders including government entities, NGO’s, public and private health actors.
• Contribute to proposal writing by providing substantive input and relevant data to the Fundraising and Communications team.
• Coordinate volunteer activities in close collaboration with the association.
• Support advocacy initiatives aimed at increasing evacuation capacity and improving response mechanisms.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Degree in Social Sciences, Humanitarian studies, or other related fields
• Demonstrated project management skills with at least 3 years of working experience in migration projects
• Proven skills in coordinating with multiple stakeholders including NGOs, government authorities, hospitals, and volunteers.
• Ability to respond to complex logistical and operational challenges under time pressure.
• Greek and English is mandatory, knowledge of Arabic would be a significant asset
• Familiarity with MSF’s operational and advocacy would be an asset
• Strong planning & organizing skills and outstanding communication / negotiation skills

POST CONDITIONS

• Candidates must be eligible to work in Greece (work permit, tax & social security numbers) as local hired staff
• Based in Athens, at the MSF GR Headquarter with some remote work
• Annual gross salary: based on MSF Salary Grid
• Private health insurance
