Interpreters In Our Pool Will
- Receive ad hoc assignments based on their availability and community needs.
- Provide accurate and sensitive interpretation between service providers and clients.
- Uphold confidentiality and professionalism in all settings.
- Contribute to creating welcoming, trauma-informed communication spaces for all participants.
Role Profile
We Are Seeking Individuals Who
- Are based in Thessaloniki or the surrounding area.
- Speak English fluently and at least one other relevant language, such as Arabic, Dari, Farsi, or Lingala. Knowledge of Greek is a bonus!
- Have an interest in working in the humanitarian field, social work, mental health, or community support.
- Are flexible and reliable, able to respond to ad hoc interpretation requests.
- Have a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approach.
- Are self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn.
- We strongly encourage applications from people with lived experience of forced displacement.
- Provide interpretation and translation support for individuals and partners accessing essential services.
- Maintain professional boundaries and ensure confidentiality.
- Take part in essential training and ongoing professional development.
- Work with the program director to design your personal development and training plan.
- Support with the mapping of needs in and around Thessaloniki.
- Previous experience with interpretation and supporting refugees, asylum seekers, or other populations.
- A willingness to learn, reflect, and actively participate in ongoing training and capacity-building workshops.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work efficiently in a diverse team, bringing a learning mindset, flexibility, and a positive approach.
- Minimum six-month commitment.
- Potential to stay on the team long term.
- International driver’s license.
- Flexible, ad hoc hours based on your availability and support requests. This role can be flexible around other work or commitments.
- An hourly stipend starting at 6 euros /hour.
- Access to training and professional development opportunities.
- Access to mental health and wellbeing support for all staff and volunteers.
