Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Pastry Cook to join our kitchen team. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and proficient in preparing a variety of desserts and pastries with consistency and quality. You will collaborate with the pastry team to execute high-end desserts and daily pastry production that aligns with our menu and brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and plate a wide range of pastries, desserts, cakes, breads, cookies, and chocolaterie items according to standard recipes and seasonal menus.
- Assist in the development and execution of daily desserts and tasting menus; contribute to seasonal/holiday offerings.
- Accurately scale, measure, and portion ingredients; maintain portion control and minimize waste.
- Ensure all pastries meet quality and presentation standards; plate desserts attractively for service.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation; adhere to food safety, sanitation, and HACCP guidelines.
- Monitor and manage inventory, assist with ordering, receiving, and rotating pastry supplies.
- Assist in maintaining equipment and tools; report maintenance needs.
- Collaborate with the pastry team and kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Restock pastry stations, set up for service, and break down at end of shift.
- Assist in tasting and menu development; stay updated on culinary trends and techniques.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of professional pastry or bakery experience; high-end restaurant or hotel experience preferred.
- Proficiency in baking and pastry techniques
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail; precise in measurements and timing.
- Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, holidays as required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Culinary degree or formal pastry program.
- Knowledge of allergen management and dietary restrictions (gluten-free, vegan, nut-free, dairy-free) and ability to adapt recipes accordingly.
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand for long periods; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; repetitive motions; manual dexterity with hands and wrists.
Work Environment
- Fast-paced professional kitchen; exposure to heat, steam, oven, and sharp objects; strict adherence to safety and sanitation standards.
