Electric Motor Prototyping Internship

What To Expect
Tesla is seeking an Electrical / Mechanical Engineer student assisting in modeling and manufacturing electric motors. This person will be working as part of the Tesla motor technology team located in Athens, Greece, towards improving motor modeling accuracy, developing prototyping plans and related activities and providing engineering feedback to external suppliers/vendors.

What You'll Do

Assist in designing and prototyping of electric motors for automotive actuators and thermal system motors.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, electrical, and test engineering, to optimize motor designs.

Help the team accelerate the bring-up of robust prototype methods for electric motors.

Leverage the knowledge of other Tesla powerhouses to evaluate advanced prototyping methods and manufacturing technologies aiming to minimize prototyping time and cost.

Execute prototyping efforts, assembly processes, and EOL testing and provide feedback on the methods.

Develop routines to perform early test validation on automotive actuators’ behavior.

Perform 2D/3D FEA simulations to derive the electromagnetic behavior of various electromechanical components.

Develop new or enhance existing advanced MATLAB functions to model performance of electromechanical systems.

Stay updated on cutting-edge technologies and integrate innovative solutions into the most power dense, efficient, low cost and reliable electric motors.

What You'll Bring

Studies (ongoing) in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

Strong mathematical and physics background.

Strong MATLAB programming skills.

Very strong fundamentals in electromagnetics and electrical machines.

Previous experience in analyzing motors using Finite Element Method.

Experience using power analyzer / oscilloscope

Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Fluency in English speaking, reading, and writing.
