We’re looking for a talented and motivated Backend Engineer with proven experience in Go (Golang) to join our growing development team in Heraklion, Crete. You’ll play a key role in designing and building scalable backend services that power our platform. This is a full-time position based in Heraklion, Crete. Hybrid or remote options can be discussed depending on the candidate.

About The Job

As a Backend Engineer of Phaistos, you’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, DevOps, and product managers, to deliver high-performance, secure, and maintainable APIs and services. You’ll contribute to both the architecture and the implementation of critical backend components.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and test new technologies and services using Go (Golang)
• Develop and optimize REST and GraphQL APIs
• Work with MySQL databases, ensuring performance and data integrity
• Collaborate using Git workflows and participate in code reviews
• Containerize services with Docker and work within CI/CD pipelines
• Ensure the reliability and scalability of backend systems
• Monitor and debug performance issues across environments
• Contribute to internal documentation and tooling
  
  

Skills & Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional backend development experience in Go (Golang) in production
• Familiarity with Docker, Git, REST, GraphQL, and MySQL
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and backend architecture
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and team collaboration skills

• Experience in the digital advertising ecosystem
• Familiarity with Clickhouse
• Familiarity with RabbitMQ
• Knowledge of microservices architecture
• Exposure to high-load, real-time systems
