Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Telecommunications and Networking professional to lead and manage network operations across both IT and OT (SCADA) environments. Familiar with highly demanding, results’ oriented working environments, he/she will be able to function effectively both within the IT team as well as in projects with other organizational units, exhibiting strong communication and collaborative skills.
He/she will be responsible for the design, implementation and management of the company’s network infrastructure in multiple locations across various cities in the country.
He/she will ensure optimal network performance, security and reliability while managing both internal resources and external vendors. The position also involves collaboration with all business units within the Company, participating in projects impacting the whole Group and ensuring consistency with the highest networking and telecommunications standards across the Company.
Additionally, a key component of the responsibilities will include overseeing activities related to smart meters, ensuring secure and efficient communication across the entire natural gas infrastructure and prompt support in the management of related critical situations.
The base location for this role can be in Athens, Thessaloniki or Larissa, with expected flexibility to travel to the various Company branches as per the various operational requirements.
Key Duties:
- Overseeing the design, implementation and management of telecommunications and networking infrastructure across multiple locations in different cities.
- Ensuring the security, performance and compliance of network systems in both IT and OT environments.
- Coordinating internal teams as well as external vendors and contractors to support operations across all company sites.
- Collaborating with colleagues within the group to align networking strategies, projects and standards across divisions.
- Planning and leading network-related projects, ensuring delivery within scope, budget and timelines.
- Handling resource planning and allocation for networking projects and day-to-day operations in a multi-site environment.
- Developing and enforcing network policies, procedures and best practices.
- Monitoring network performance across multiple locations, diagnosing issues and providing hands-on intervention when necessary.
- Managing network assets, licenses and ensuring inventory control across all sites.
- Leading activities related to smart meter infrastructure, ensuring secure and efficient communication between meters and the central systems.
- Ensuring compliance with SLAs and overseeing vendor performance in all company locations.
Required Skills/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in telecommunications and networking management, preferably across multiple locations.
- Project management experience, preferably in leading technical projects related to networks, from inception to implementation, in multiple locations.
- Certifications: CCNA, CCNP (or equivalent).
- Deep knowledge of networking protocols, security best practices and telecommunications technologies.
- Experience with Cisco, Fortinet, Meraki, and Checkpoint technologies.
- Proven experience in managing external vendors or contractors in a multi-site environment.
- Hands-on expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex networking issues.
- Experience with VoIP technologies and their integration into networking environments.
- Excellent command of the English language (both written and spoken).
Additional/desired Skills/Certifications:
- Experience with cloud networking and operational technology (OT) systems, including SCADA.
- Fortinet certifications (e.g., NSE4, NSE5) are highly desirable.
- ITIL certification for service management processes, and Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2).
- Experience managing smart meter communication networks and ensuring secure connectivity.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial networking in OT environments.
