Data Scientist (m/f/d) Land Surface Temperature (LST) (m/f/d)

The Mission

At OroraTech Germany, we are on a mission to revolutionize how businesses and governments utilize space-based thermal data, specifically focusing on Land Surface Temperature (LST) data products. We are seeking an experienced LST Data Scientist / Developer to join our team. Your first task will be to mature, maintain and scale our LST prototype for production-ready use. This role involves close collaboration with our ground segment, the Level-1 data product team, Data Science, Business Development, Product Development, and Sales teams to drive growth and innovation in sectors such as climate, government, and more.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Responsible for refining and maintaining our LST prototype for data deliveries to our customers
• Basis: Level 1 thermal radiance products. Experience with processing low level remote sensing data products is preferred.
• Implement new features from the LST roadmap and ensure their technical feasibility and scalability in collaboration with the team
• Support the calibration and validation team to ensure the accuracy and reliability of LST data products.
• Analysis and processing of third-party data products to improve our LST data product.
• Conducting research and development to enhance the accuracy and reliability of LST data products.
• Visualizing and communicating results and on-going developments on a regular basis internally and externally to potential customers.
• Monitoring and reporting on the performance of LST data products
  
  

Relevant Skills

• Minimum of 3 years in data science or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Climatology, or related field (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred).
• Profen experience in developing and maintaining software products. Relevant skills include Python, Docker, Linux, Git, Unit Testing and REST APIs.
• Preferred: Experience in working with remote sensing libraries and processing of geospatial data.
• Knowledge about atmospheric physics and emissivity estimation is advantageous (i.e. atmospheric correction, emissivity estimation and radiative transfer).
• Familiarity with physical and statistical modeling.
• Experience in calibration and validation of Earth Observation data products.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Ability to visualize concepts and translate technical insights into business solutions. Proactive and results-driven mindset. High adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
