Freight Operator

Main Purpose

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Operator to join our team in Thessaloniki. In this role, you will provide essential support to our operations team by assisting with documentation processes, handling shipping instructions, creating House Bill of Lading (HBL), and invoicing tasks. As you gain experience, you will gradually take on more responsibilities, including handling simple DV bookings, road shipments, and progressing to more complex shipments.

Knowledge Skills And Abilities, Key Responsibilities

• Planning and coordinating freight deliveries and pick-ups
• Tracking shipments and updating status of goods
• Communicating with clients, shipping agents and freight carriers
• Ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and handling any customs-related issues
• Resolving any freight delivery issues such as delays or mishandlings
• Preparing and managing documentation related to freight transport including shipping labels, bills of lading, and transport manifests
• Ensuring accurate freight charges and billing
• Coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of goods
• Developing strategies to improve service levels, increase operational efficiency, and reduce costs
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Bachelor Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred.
• Understanding of freight operations and documentation processes.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills in both Greek and English (written and verbal).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new systems and processes.
• Knowledge: FTL/LTL and Container import/export/cross-trade shipments,
• Accounting basic knowledge. Focus on International Road Transportation.
• Good notions of international trade and warehousing-terminal activities.
• 2-3 years of proven experience in Freight Forwarding / Customer Service.
• Punctual, great teammate, process oriented, organized and methodical with work.
• Able to work with MS Office, and ability to operate our in-house software system after training
• Ability to build positive relationships with both external and internal parties
• Outstanding interpersonal skills
