System Engineer

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team of experienced engineers and help with the development and maintenance of our expanding, Linux-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be able to deploy, configure, maintain and monitor the infrastructure powering our scalable services, ensuring the highest levels of availability, performance and security.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor systems and infrastructure
• Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system tools
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems on servers and networks
• Maintain and develop backup procedures and scripts
• Develop custom deployment scripts and automation tools
• Investigate system logs for troubleshooting issues and discovering monitoring patterns
• Help in the design of system management tools
• Participate in the development of system administration policies and procedures

Must have

• Proven experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting Linux-based environments
• Solid experience in the deployment and administration of web application stacks (e.g. Apache / Nginx + Python WSGI / PHP Fast CGI)
• Experience with database servers (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• Experience in setting up mail servers (e.g. Postfix)
• Experience with logging and monitoring systems (e.g. ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Zabbix)
• Familiarity with common backup strategies and backup tolls
• Good scripting skills (shell scripts, Python)
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g. KVM)
• Good understanding of best practices in setting up and monitoring server infrastructure
• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, Routing, DNS, Firewalls
• Excellent organizing, prioritizing and multitasking abilities
• A collaborative team player mind-set
• Fluent in Greek & English

Good to have

• have:Experience as a system administrator of Debian-based systems (installation, configuration, package management, etc.)
• Experience with cloud technologies and virtualization cluster management tools (e.g. Ganeti)
• Experience with automation tools and DevOps best practices
• Practical knowledge of the Ansible automation tool
• Experience on MySQL/MariaDB database servers and clusters (e.g. Galera, Maxscale)
• Experience with LDAP directory services (Open LDAP)
