SUMMARY:
Supervise and direct financial activities of the hotel, safeguard assets, and prepare all financial reports in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Serve as financial advisor to hotel management and ownership.
CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develop, maintain, and administer bookkeeping and accounting systems
- Review and approve all monetary disbursements, allowances, and payroll expenditures.
- On a monthly basis, oversee the accounting and reconciling of the value of on-hand cash in banks, accounts receivable inventories of the hotel either by a physical count or by other appropriate and authorized means.
- Maintain adequate safeguards over financial records, contracts and leases, master keys, insurance of warranties, and other important documents belonging to the hotel. Establish and maintain an adequate financial record retention system.
- Prepare and file on a timely basis all of the necessary payroll tax returns. Prepare information needed for use by the corporation in filing tax returns.
- Train and/or assist the management team in understanding and interpreting financial reports and statistical data developed by the hotel or by corporate staff.
- Prepare any special reports needed by the main office, management, or the department heads such as Weekly Labor Reports.
- Review systems and controls that are in effect at the hotel to ensure prevention of misuse or loss of company assets.
- Administer competitive bidding process.
- Act as a liaison with legitimate agencies of government and outside auditors in making books, records, systems, and controls open for review.
- File on a timely basis applications for renewals of all the hotel’s licenses and permits.
- Prepare and distribute the following each month: Financial Statement, Budget Report, Trend of Operations, and Profit and Loss Report. Prepare and distribute periodic statements and other financial and statistical reports.
SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS:
In addition to the core focus & responsibilities, the Financial Controller is expected to complete the following duties:
- Oversee computer networking operations and computer applications within the hotel.
- Attend departmental meetings to keep appraised of operations and to provide input.

- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in verbal and written English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
- Technologically sound with Microsoft Windows applications and Oracle products.
- Prioritize and organize work assignments, have timely follow up and execution.
- Have superb time management skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of Atelier & Ace Culture & initiatives
- Maintain complete knowledge of all hotel services/features and hours of operation.
- Other language, mathematical, and reasoning abilities as outlined below.
- Ability to comply with physical demands as outlined below.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor’s (4-year) degree from a college/university is necessary. Minimum 12 months of management experience, preferably in a mid-sized hotel. Minimum two years of accounting/finance experience in a hospitality setting. Must have knowledge working with GAAP. Candidates must also have experience in computer programs including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), OPERA, and other common hospitality systems.
LANGUAGE, MATHEMATICAL, and REASONING ABILITIES:
Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:
- Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).
- Ability to compute complex mathematical equations and formulas.
- Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.
- Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests
