Senior Java Developer

The Athens Exchange Group (ATHEX Group), certified as a Great Place to Work, is currently seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our Software Applications Development team.

Becoming a member of our Applications Development team means that you will contribute to developing state-of-the-art technology tools, which will shape the future of the industry and provide a safe, stable and easy environment for our customers.

The role's scope is to develop, maintain, and support critical multi-tier Java software systems, consisting of several cooperating, distributed modules that ensure real-time data recording, re-transmission, and monitoring.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop well engineered, efficient, and testable software for new or existing applications
• Understand customer requirements and produce appropriate specifications
• Perform software release management
• Support production systems on a 2nd level
• Contribute to and review the overall projects and systems technical documentation
• Develop unit tests, automated regression tests,and handling defects as they occur
• Support and coach junior developers
  
  

Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Technology/ Engineering or science degree in combination with a postgraduate degree in Information Technology
• 6+ years of full-time professional (hands on) Java Development experience (design and develop applications)
• Experience designing and developing HTTP web services, REST or SOAP
• Good knowledge of SQL
• Working knowledge of Linux shell scripting, Maven, Git, and CI/CD principles
• Object Oriented Analysis and Design

You will be a strong candidate if you also have

• Experience with Java Swing
• Experience with Spring Boot and/or Apache httpd/tomcat/CXF stack
• Experience with asynchronous messaging technologies, especially RabbitMQ and Kafka
• Experience with Oracle Database.
