ICAP Executive Search & Selection, on behalf of its client a multinational leading chemical manufacturing company, is looking for a skilled professional for the position of Business Development Manager Performance Products to join its team. This role is based in Athens.
Business Development Manager for Performance Products (5751/BDM/ESS/GR)
Position Summary:
Reporting to the GM, you will drive the success of client’s operations in Greece with focus on their Performance Products - specialty chemicals that can be applied in the paint, plastics, rubber, coatings, adhesives and other industries. Success is measured by meeting and exceeding targets, fulfilling customer needs, and enhancing the product and supplier portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Build and sustain long-term supplier and customer relationships
- Drive turnover, volume, and margin growth for assigned accounts, achieving sales and profit targets
- Manage assigned supplier, product, and customer portfolios effectively
- Provide timely internal and supplier reporting on business figures, project developments, and forecasts
- Identify gaps in the product portfolio and acquire new suppliers as needed, in collaboration with Group Development
- Support marketing activities, including promotion, market research, and competition analysis
- Track turnover and margin against budget and objectives
- Continuously develop technical expertise to support new business opportunities
- Explore new product lines and supplier partnerships
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales of specialty chemicals
- Proficiency in IT tools (Windows, MS Office, MS Teams, ERP)
- Fluent in Greek and English; additional languages are a plus
- Entrepreneurial spirit, proactive approach, and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, confidence, and self-motivation
- Strong customer focus, even under pressure
- Effective planning and time-management skills
- Willingness to travel regularly across Greece and abroad for customer visits, technical training, and events
