About the Role:

Working on top of worldwide research content & knowledge, our Machine Learning & Data Engineering teams explore new ideas and develop novel, AI-powered solutions which help publishers & researchers to know more, do more & achieve more. At the same time, our goal is to highlight low-quality research and ensure research (data) integrity identifying signals of potential research misconduct. We are looking for a talented and self-directed Senior Machine Learning Engineer to work on the following areas:

  • Machine Learning Engineering including Deep Learning
  • Text Mining and Natural Language Processing
  • Generative AI
  • Semantic Search, Information Retrieval, Recommendation & Retrieval Augmented Generation
  • Information extraction, Named Entity Recognition & Entity linking

Being a member of a cross-functional team of ML, Data & Back-End engineers and applied researchers, you will work across many different areas in close collaboration with also non-technical colleagues and product owners. This means that communication skills are particularly important as well as the ability to describe technical issues in non-technical terms.



How you will make an impact:

  • Develop novel, scalable AI powered solutions related to all the above-mentioned areas
  • Train Deep Learning / Transformer based models for different classification tasks
  • Evaluate, fine-tune and leverage LLMs / GenerativeAI models to address different use cases
  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research and prototyping
  • Work on end-2-end ML workflow life-cycle (MLOps, CI/CD, A/B Testing) and various related frameworks/tools (e.g., MLFlow)



What we look for:

  • BSc in Computer Science and MSc with strong GPA in Machine Learning, or related technical fields
  • 4+ years of industry experience on developing and deploying efficient ML/AI models and services in real-world environments.
  • Strong engineering skills and proficiency in Python
  • Solid foundation in Machine Learning with engineering experience in some of the following relevant specialization areas: Text Mining, Natural Language Processing (NLP), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), Representation Learning, Information Retrieval & Content-based Recommendation, GenerativeAI, Information Extraction, NER & Entity Linking
  • Experience with various deep learning and ML frameworks such as PyTorch, HuggingFace Transformers, spaCy, scikit-learn,
  • Experience with end-2-end ML workflow life-cycle (MLOps, CI/CD, A/B Testing) and various related frameworks/tools (e.g., MLFlow)
  • Experience with Python backend APIs / development frameworks also supporting long running tasks (e.g., FastAPI, Celery), microservices architecture, IoC/DI patterns and containerization
  • Experience with Git, Jira, Cloud Build or Jenkins
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Team player who enjoys working collaboratively
  • Fluency in English written and oral
  • A passion for Machine Learning & AI-powered solutions
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive

This range represents Wiley’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting.
