About The Role

Diageo Hellas has a leading position in many of the product categories in which it competes, and therefore is faced with the challenge of sustaining, strengthening and growing its business base within the context of an ambitious and competitive trading environment.

The Commercial Director role is accountable for leading the sales organization across Greece in the design and execution of outstanding commercial plans to create and drive a growth agenda in both the On and Off-Trade channels. Exceptional leadership skills, outstanding commercial acumen, a confirmed ability to engage customers and a blend of curiosity, growth-mindset and critical thinking will all be key success factors for this role

Responsibilities

  • The development of a compelling and stretching channel strategy to maximize market share, profit, customer satisfaction, innovation and NSV growth opportunities
  • Strategic leadership in creating a short and long-term channel and category vision that engages customers, shoppers and consumers
  • The ability to inspire the organization, sales team and support functions to engage with and deliver the strategic plan
  • Build a strong, effective and talented sales organization that drives performance, identifies potential and rewards outstanding results
  • Strong partnership with and excellence in execution with strategic customers. Drives collaboration and commitment at all stages of the value chain, negotiating for win-win outcomes and competitive advantage in the market
  • Segmentation of customers and outlets to prioritize resources and win in the market
  • Differentiated customer strategies to drive performance and identify growth opportunities, ensuring the best use of customer investment and controllable overheads
  • Determining the most effective ‘Route to Consumer’ (RTC) strategy to drive speed, efficiency and effectiveness
  • Execution of trade terms, pricing strategies and promotional effectiveness to create a profitable and sustainable outcome
  • Working in partnership with the Customer Marketing Heads of Channels to create high impact category and brand plans aimed at driving penetration and based on strong category, competitor and market insights
  • Segmented focus to drive, in partnership with our Reserve team, growth in the value of the premium portfolio in Greece
  • Ability to identify and rapidly commercialize opportunities for category or brand innovation, with a defined proportion of our trade investment focused on innovation and growth (and fully integrated with customer plans)
  • Working closely with the Diageo Corporate Affairs team to ensure continued engagement with Government, NGOs and other key opinion-former stakeholders in support of our corporate reputation, social responsibility and Alcohol in Society agenda
  • Well-orchestrated selling teams who are focused on both the ‘sell-in’ and ‘sell-out’ of our brands and who are delivering exceptional results for customers
  • Determination of forecast and forward investment plan for the channel, assigning appropriate resources and putting in place appropriate performance metrics
  • Exploits the opportunities presented by annual tourism season by having in place appropriate resource and exceptional customer plans
  • Strong understanding of the external environment, able to anticipate trends and factor them into our plans
  • Effective use of consumer and shopper insights to drive breakthrough thinking
  • Member of Commercial Southern Europe leadership team, helping to drive a positive culture and making Diageo a great place to work
  • Demonstrates and role models the Diageo behaviors and values.

Essential Skills Experience

  • Previous experience in FMCG or Retail company in commercial director roles
