We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Manager to lead our Data Engineering, Reporting, and Analytics team. The BI Manager will play a pivotal role in driving data-driven decision-making across the organization, ensuring the accuracy, accessibility, and relevance of our data assets. This position reports directly to the Director of Data Science, and will be based in Athens.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with OpenBet's business objectives. Establish data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
• Oversee data compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, etc.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust data infrastructure, including data pipelines, warehouses, and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize data needs, ensuring timely delivery of data solutions.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering, recommending innovations to enhance efficiency and scalability.
• Drive the development of insightful and actionable reports, dashboards, and visualizations to support strategic decision-making.
• Define KPIs and metrics to measure business performance, conducting in-depth analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities.
• Provide guidance and support to business stakeholders in interpreting and leveraging data insights effectively.
• Manage and mentor a team of Data Engineers, Data Analysts, and BI Developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
• Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and identify opportunities for skill development and career growth.
• Champion diversity and inclusion initiatives within the team, promoting a supportive and inclusive work environment.
  
  

Essential Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field. Proven experience (5+ years) in business intelligence, data engineering, or a similar role, with a track record of success in leading complex data projects.
• Experience working with cloud-based data warehouses and analytics platforms such as Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Microsoft Azure Synapse Analytics, including proficiency in querying, data modeling, and performance optimization.
• Experience designing and implementing real-time data pipelines using Kafka or similar streaming platforms. Familiarity with related technologies such as Apache Spark Streaming, Apache Flink, or AWS Kinesis is a plus.
• Proficiency in ETL orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow for managing complex data workflows and dependencies.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with cloud-based data technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is preferred.

• Experience with version control platforms (e.g. GitHub, Gitlab, Bitbucket etc.)
• Experience with Jira and Confluence.
