Role Summary:


As a South Europe New Constructions Sales Lead you will drive the New Construction opportunities both from shipyard and owner prospective, lead in the conversations with clients directly or through the Account Managers, support in the development of the Value Propositions and engage with customers through New Construction Roadshows. You will also drive the collaboration with cross-functional teams (such as product owners, product marketing managers, sales, service delivery, change, continuous improvement etc.) to build, maintain and support the Maritime vision and provide significant direct and indirect value to our clients internally as well as externally.





Main Responsibilities:



  • Act as the local Project Sponsor for all Newcon related projects in South Europe & lead all Newcon related sales activities in the Area.

  • Collaborate extensively with the central Commercial Team and Area Commercial Teams to drive Newcon wins and help shaping the LR Newcon roadmap

  • To work with the Segment Managers, Strategic Key Account Managers, Key Account Managers and Commercial Managers in the Area to drive a commercial intensity and customer centric culture within the team, focusing on closing the Newcon sales and improving the customer experience to enhance loyalty and build long-term relationships

  • Regularly communicate & discuss the strategy and plan with the Leadership Team to ensure alignment & resources are available to pursue high value & strategically important opportunities

  • Facilitate effective sharing of intelligence & sales leads between Area Commercial Teams to better connect owner & yard opportunities, influencing & improving outcomes.

  • Work with a wide group of cross-functional and cross group stakeholders including Area Commercial, marketing , finance, rules development, strategic resourcing and operations, to develop, deliver and maintain a global plan to achieve the market share targets

  • To coordinate the Newcon Owner bids and personally undertake specific sales activity for large target Newcon opportunities

  • Work with the Insights team to Identify, analyse and interpret market trends and challenges that will impact the strategy, including identification of target projects & clients

  • Support strategic bids within the Areas by highlighting where resources are needed to support these bids including individuals whose involvement could enhance our win potential

  • Liaise with the Strategic Implementation teams to understand and influence how these change programmes can improve our success opportunity

  • Participate, co-ordinate and where applicable, lead business development focus groups & ad-hoc meetings for the setting of strategies to achieve a targeted objective or in support of a strategic bid.

  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation and industry standards.

  • To pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.





Key Health & Safety Responsibilities:



  • Eliminate or minimise employee's exposure to risks by reviewing, regularly, the health and safety risk register, applying appropriate controls, communicating results of risk assessment and ensuring health and safety is considered in the planning and execution of all LR activities.

  • Manage your own and your team's compliance with health and safety rules, instructions, systems and legal requirements, ensuring employees are suitably trained and adequate resources are available to work safely.

  • Monitor and review health and safety performance, observe safety behaviours in the workplace, taking appropriate corrective and preventative action as necessary and suggesting and implementing improvement activities.





Required Qualifications:



  • A degree or equivalent from a tertiary organisation recognised by Lloyd's Register within the relevant field of engineering or physical science or qualifications from a marine or nautical institution

  • Membership of an appropriate professional institution (I. Eng or equivalent).

  • Proven significant relevant experience of building relationships with clients and key stakeholders.

  • Strong commercial awareness. Ability to develop strategic action plans based on input from key persons.

  • Significant experience in Account management field, preferably in maritime with an in depth understanding of sales and client care principles.

  • Significant experience in leading Account management or Sales initiatives in a virtual/international context.

  • Strong knowledge of financial, budgetary planning, business planning, reporting and management.

  • Understanding and experience in participating, communicating, positively contributing and adding value in maritime technical discussions with clients and LR colleagues alike.

  • Ability to understand client needs and translate them to opportunities.

  • Previous experience and interest to pro-actively drive the development of a network of key relationships internally and externally.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at different levels within organisations and to influence successfully and openly at all levels – both inside our organisation and outside in the business.

  • Previous experience throughout sales lifecycle with evidence of successful sales deliverables to targets

  • Demonstrate professional people skills and promote a team working environment across the area of business.

  • Excellent professional people skills to improve performance across the area of business.

  • Thorough understanding of the shipping market and maritime environment to manage commercial focus and find new business opportunities.

  • Ability to understand and assess complex and sometimes unfamiliar situations, visualise solutions and see through to resolution.

  • Ability of building relationships, with the ability to pro-actively drive development of a network of key relationships internally and externally.

  • Excellent command (written and oral) in English language using relevant professional terminology.

  • Computer literacy with Microsoft products including excel, word and power point.

  • Flexible approach to adjust role as the position develops.





Preferred but not required:



  • Master’s Degree in relevant discipline is considered an asset.

  • Chartered or incorporated engineer status preferred.
