We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Athens, Greece. This is an on-site, full-time position at our office located at Leof. Kifisias 6-8, Athina 151 25, Marousi. The ideal candidate will be a mid to senior-level professional with a strong background in accounting and financial management.
As a Senior Accountant at WayMore, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing valuable insights to support business decisions. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.
The on-site nature of this role allows for close collaboration with our finance team and other departments, fostering a dynamic work environment where you can contribute to the company's growth and success. You will be expected to work Monday through Friday, maintaining regular office hours and participating in face-to-face meetings and discussions.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of the company's financial operations
- Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards and tax regulations
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and stakeholders
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax authorities
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures
- Manage cash flow and financial forecasting
- Provide strategic financial advice to support business decisions
- Process and reconcile financial transactions
- Review and approve invoices and expense reports
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger
- Monitor and report on cash flow
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Respond to financial inquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Tax Processing: Manage all tax operations, including withholding taxes, VAT, INTRASTAT, and VIES. Handle the posting of cooperation and lease agreements, E.F.A., N (income) Declarations, F4, F5, E9, and FMY.
- Invoice Control: Thoroughly review invoices and identify any discrepancies, ensuring accuracy in financial records.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare periodic results and management reports, providing clear and concise financial insights to stakeholders.
- Payment Processing: Create and manage payment approval files, ensuring timely and accurate disbursements.
- Cash Management: Perform daily cash reconciliations and prepare comprehensive cash flow reports.
- Revenue and Expense Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile revenue and expenses, updating electronic books to maintain accurate financial records.
- Audit Support: Participate in annual audits conducted by external auditors, assisting in the preparation of financial statements.
- Payroll Management: Finalize payroll processes, including Ergani system updates and compliance with Greek labor regulations.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant accounting standards, tax laws, and financial regulations.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Budgeting: Assist in the development and monitoring of departmental and company-wide budgets.
- Financial Planning: Contribute to long-term financial planning and strategy development.
- Stakeholder Communication: Prepare and present financial reports and analyses to management and other stakeholders.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with other finance team members and cross-functional departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) preferred
- 8-10 years of overall accounting experience, with 6-8 years specifically in a senior accounting role
- Strong knowledge of Greek accounting principles, tax laws, and financial regulations
- Proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software
- Experience with ERP systems and financial management software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong ethical standards and confidentiality
- Experience in the technology or SaaS industry is a plus
- Adaptability to changing financial landscapes and emerging technologies
- Proven track record of implementing process improvements
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle)
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero)
- Knowledge of financial reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
- Proficiency in tax preparation software
- Experience with payroll systems, particularly Ergani
- Familiarity with Greek tax authority electronic platforms

- Knowledge of data analytics tools (e.g., R, Python)
- Experience with cloud-based accounting solutions
