Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior IT Engineer to maintain, support and enhance the IT offering of this highly successful energy analytics consultancy. To be successful in this role you will need to provide high quality support to our users, ensure that our systems are properly administered and develop on existing infrastructure and processes.

You will be the point of escalation for 1st/ 2nd / 3rd line support queries and will be a friendly and approachable member of the IT team. The team will look to you to lead by example, share knowledge, mentor and be involved in training up more junior members. You will find your day is split 50/50 BAU and Project work.

As a Senior IT Engineer your role covers predominantly supporting our users and endpoints but will also cover cloud, server, and network support on occasion. You will have ownership of certain systems and platforms and therefore have deep technical knowledge and experience in implementation and troubleshooting.

You should be able to work independently and be flexible to changing deadlines. Reliability and adaptability are vital for this dynamic role together with exceptional interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-user troubleshooting, application support, and user onboarding and offboarding
  • Deployment and administration of software and systems including Microsoft 365, (inc. Teams/OneDrive/SharePoint), CrowdStrike anti-virus software, Jira and Confluence
  • Develop the Athens Office's IT infrastructure, systems, policies and procedures to support the continued growth of the company
  • Manage, deploy and configure upgrades, software updates, and security patches
  • Ownership of user onboarding and offboarding processes, driving improvements and automation
  • Monitor and maintain VC equipment, access control systems and network devices
  • Provide regular reporting capabilities to the Head of IT and wider business, communicating project status, activities, and achievements
  • Sharing knowledge and training more junior members of the team
  • Manages the procurement process for laptops and other IT equipment, ensuring alignment with operational needs
  • Support and develop seamless communications and relationships across Athens office, international offices, and external suppliers

Required Attributes

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Expert Microsoft 365 administration and app support (inc. Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
  • Azure AD, Intune and Microsoft Endpoint Manager experience
  • Windows 10/11 setup, configuration and support
  • TCP/IP Networking and WiFi troubleshooting
  • Hardware procurement, installation and support (inc. VC equipment)
  • Experience creating knowledge articles, documenting processes and best practice
  • Excellent time management, administration and organisational skills
  • Flexible approach to work, positive, can-do attitude, and a team player
  • Ability to work independently, to deadlines, managing conflicting priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels
  • A desire to progress within IT and develop technical skills

Desirable Attributes

  • Solid scripting and automation skills - PowerShell, Bash scripts
  • Linux / AWS experience
  • Experience with Sophos AV and VPN
  • Microsoft / IT Support qualifications (such as CompTIA A+ / CCNA)
  • Understanding of the ITIL framework and awareness of GDPR
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, GitHub/GitLab
  • Dynamics 365 / ERP Experience
  • Experience of using Ticketing Systems (Jira Service Desk)
  • Windows Server 2016+ experience
